Creating custom woodworking pieces becomes art when I find passion behind a piece. My son got a new truck recently and like most young men, this became his pride and joy. My wife and I have often joked with him that he was going to wash the paint right off. For Christmas, I wanted to make him something special. I took a picture of his truck with my phone one evening while he was over for dinner and used this photograph to create a 3D woodworking picture of his truck. I wanted the truck to look like it was about to drive right out of the frame. It’s all in the details. I tried to include as many details as possible and follow the curvature of the body style. I am very pleased with how this has turned out. Since creating this, I have shown the picture to many people and they have all been shocked that I was able to create this from a photograph. I guess this is what sets me and my designs apart. I see the challenge in creating custom woodworking and embrace the opportunity. Seeing the look on his face when he opened his gift makes it all worth it.
